About Fellowverse
Fellowverse is for meditating on the word of God within your daily activities.
Why it exists
Most days have no hour for reading. They have the drive to school, a run, the washing up. A reading plan asks for time that is not there, and an audio Bible plays whole books in order, so a short drive lands in the middle of a list of names.
We wanted the words themselves, a whole thought at a time, in the minutes there are. And we wanted to stop feeling behind.
What it does
- Short passages. The Bible is played two to six verses at a time, each a whole thought, with one line saying where it sits and who is speaking.
- Found by how you feel. Say "something for fear" or "Psalm 23", typed or spoken, and the passages that answer it come up.
- Kept, and played by itself. What you keep becomes a playlist that plays hands-free, paced for work, a run, rest or reading, with quiet sound under the voice.
- Made for the car. Playlists play offline, from the lock screen and the car's buttons, and car mode answers "next", "again" and "pause".
- For children too. Say it back plays a verse, then listens while a child says it after, first with the words, then from memory.
How it is made
- Passages, not verses. Every passage is drafted from the text's own paragraphs and poetry, then checked by a person.
- Recorded once, checked against the text. Each chapter is recorded once per voice, transcribed, and compared with the text word by word before anyone hears it.
- Nothing added. No word of scripture is ever written, changed or explained by software. Software finds passages, checks recordings and paces them. That is all.
- Listening, not tracking. What you keep stays on your phone until you choose to keep it in an account. What you say to search is never stored. There are no trackers in your browser, and you can download or delete everything from settings.
What we believe
- The text, nothing added. No commentary between you and the words.
- Later, never no. Setting a passage aside is not turning it down.
- No streaks, no guilt. Nothing counts your days.
- What you keep is yours. Private by default, and yours to take away.
The text
Fellowverse reads the World English Bible, a modern translation in the public domain, so it is free to record and to share. More translations are coming; each is held on its own, word for word, on the same passages.
For developers
The same search, voice search and alignment of a reading with its text are offered to other products through an API. Alignment can also tell which Bible passage a recording reads, from the audio alone.
